A Fresh Coat of Paint
April 9th to May 11th, 2012
Show Description
The Gateway Gallery at Great Bay Community College is honored to feature the paintings of Maddi Alana and Darryl Abbey from April 9 to May 11, 2012 in a show entitled, A Fresh Coat of Paint.
Maddi Alana works in watercolor, painting in a realistic, impressionistic and traditional style. Her work depicts seascapes, landscapes, cityscapes, florals, imaginative paintings and pets. She has studied with Edgar Whitney, who is known for his wet-on-wet technique. Her paintings and commissions have been featured in galleries and private collections worldwide. Maddi Alana maintains a gallery in New Castle, New Hampshire with the help of her canine companion Mikey. Her work is featured on her website, www.alanawatercolors.com.
Darryl Abbey earned a degree in music and is in fact a classical tenor, having performed with world famous conductors and musical ensembles. In his early forties, despite the fact that he never received formal training in the visual arts, he began painting to counterbalance the rigors of his business career. His watercolor and acrylic paintings reflect his observations and travels in both New England and Italy. His other interests include cycling, woodworking, aviation, and of course, singing. His work may be seen at simpleartsbydarryl.blogspot.com/.
The gallery is located in the atrium entrance of Great Bay Community College and is open during regular college operating hours. Please sign the guest book when you come and visit.
Information on each artist and their work can be found in the gallery. Please sign the guest book when you visit.
